Did you know there are currently only about 31,000 polar bears, 3,900 tigers, and 27,000 rhinos left in the world? These iconic creatures, along with many other species, are on the brink of extinction.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List, a global index monitoring the status of species, reports that over 37,000 species are now threatened with extinction. This includes well-known animals like the African elephant and the mountain gorilla, as well as countless plants, insects, and other organisms.

The loss of biodiversity has far-reaching consequences for the planet and humanity. Every species plays a critical role in maintaining healthy ecosystems, from pollinating crops and purifying water to regulating the climate and providing essential services that sustain human life. When species vanish, these functions are disrupted, leading to ecosystem collapse and jeopardizing our survival.

Human activities are the primary drivers of this crisis. Habitat destruction through deforestation and urbanization is a leading cause, while climate change, with rising temperatures and extreme weather events, intensifies the threats. Additionally, the illegal wildlife trade—fueled by demand for exotic pets, traditional medicines, and luxury goods—continues to devastate wildlife populations.

We must act now to protect endangered species and secure the planet’s future. Here’s how you can help:
